this isn't improved!
first of all, the playing field is much smaller. second and more importantly, the asteroids in the original broke up into smaller asteroids, thus making the job much harder! you missed what made asteroid distinct from other random space shooters, thereby making your game both unintuitive and unoriginal.

near-perfect character animation, crisp sound, and funny as hell! the only thing i could've asked for is MORE MORE MORE! ahem. Good job.
potential
it shows potential, but my main gripe is you using a TIE Defender as an enemy. 1) Defenders aren't part of Star Wars Canon (aka Lucas didn't create it) and 2) they definitely didn't exist back in the Prequel era.
I understand your gripe, but I wanted to use TIE defenders because they looked cool. :)
not bad at all
few comments: you call the game snake, but the creature is obviously an earthworm (i understand the popular name for this type of game is snake, but you could have been consistent... no big deal). also, at one point the worm/snake stops getting longer, making the game quite easy to play... i played for 5 minutes straight without ever losing a life. work on these improvements and you have a solid game!

this piece just drips of pure pretension. the opening done in (hmm, i can't remember the name of that text animation program, maybe because I'd never use something like that myself) was way too long, and it was shameless hype for something that honestly for right now, wasn't interesting nor fun at all. nice try, but meh.
