i dunno about trailers...
if there's anything I want you to get from this review, it's the only thing I'm gonna say: The ALL AUDIENCES line in the preview green screen is a separate line from the first. get that and you've knocked it clean out of the park.
very nice
yes, i thought the beginning was really slow. I understand that section was supposed to create dramatic tension, but when everything is consistently moving at slow motion, you kinda lose the feeling of suspense as opposed to "hmm, he's picking up his cigarette... he's still picking up a cigarette..." you could have shown the stuff happening to the guy on the ground moving in slow motion as if to show things in his mind blurring to a crawl, but keeping the standing guy's actions at normal speed to convey his feeling of security and victory.
That being said, any doubt i had on the movie (the relatively simple plot was part of it), it was all blown away by the climax, which was so absolutely perfectly timed to the music I was really impressed. All the rotating shots especially were very well done, which surprised me a lot. Obviously you know how to create fast scenes, so I guess I hoped the beginning was just as visually extravagant even if it needed to be slow-paced.
I'm really a lot more impressed than I let on, I just wanted to offer constructive criticism. By the way, I noticed the Cube-style clothing of the guys ;).
Thanks, I'm always glad to get constructive criticism! I know, the beginning is very slow, but thats just because I wanted it to match with the music, and I think I succeeded! The rotations took me very long, thanks! The plot... well... *caugh* take it as a metaphor...
eh
it was rotoscoped, if anything. from the looks of it, it was rotoscoped by mouse, though it may have been by wacom tablet (rotoscoping is the process of taking live action and tracing it frame by frame). it's decent, but i think you need to come up front and admit that. rotoscoping is a lot of work, but it shouldn't be passed off as straight-up animation (I did a completely rotoscoped music video myself, which is also up on Newgrounds, just check my profile). Make it longer, and add more style to it, and you'll get better ratings.
two things
two things make this movie suffer, despite the fact that it has great graphics and atmosphere, and they're both related: plot and dialogue. The premise of the government was really pretty bad, way too simple, and the ending was horrible and there was no irony (it was about as good as if the guy had woken up and it was all a dream). the second was the actual dialogue... again, very simple, no wit whatsoever, and you know, it IS possible to get emotion from just text. hope that helps you in your future endeavor. again, don't be discouraged, i see you have great potential, but maybe you should get a screenwriter?
very cool
the mix of sprites and vector animation actually works well, and the preloader was worth at least a 3 by itself! very cool video, and the graphics rock. and i'm not even an FF fan.
improved
this movie was a lot better than the original, but the main problem of that version exists in this version... terrible voice acting. for a movie that relies on dialogue so much, its amateurish quality really sticks out. otherwise, visually it's very good. and i loved the wayne's world parody, and the entire Kamino fight. and wait, what's wrong with KFC?
um
the graphics were amazing, but they were just graphics... i'd like to see you put your considerable talents towards actual animation, please?
I can only try to have people view me as I would like them to view me, and animation is a step in that direction.
